Roadside rescue!

Check out this cute little table my husband had picked up on the side of the road over a year ago.  It needed so much repair I was not sure what to do with it so I just tucked it away and didn't deal with it.  It was missing the top, the joints were separated and the fret work was coming off... but I loved the carvings on it and the uniqueness of it.

After so many scenarios of how it should look like,  I finally came up with a plan to stain the table a dark espresso color and make a mirrored table top.

I filled the gaps with wood putty and sanded it down.

Then I cut a round piece of wood for the table top and I found a 12" round mirror from my local craft supply store.

Well, that is as far as I have gotten with this project.  I hope you come back to see the how it all comes together!

What do you think of my plan?  Should I choose a different color to stain the wood?  I would love some input.

Have a great day!

  1. Great find! I would still keep it stained, wether you go espresso or not, I would love to see the look kept intact if possible. I also understand why you chose mirror top, because of the damage, but if you can make the damage less obvious, glass would be better or antiqued glass, since it will see through and those legs on that table is gorgeous! good luck!
