Patiently waiting for warmth...

I cannot believe how cold it has been here in New York…  I'm ready to pack up and move down to Florida!  Maybe one day, for right now I'll just keep hoping for warm weather.

This past weekend I went to this great furniture store called FIND homefurnishings in Downtown, Brooklyn that had gorgeous furniture and home accessories.  Unfortunately, the prices were a bit out of my range and I really didn't need anything yet.  But, it was really nice to see the latest style in furniture and get some ideas.

I love the wooden chandeliers, similar to the ones from Restoration Hardware.

I think these light fixtures can be easily created.

Gorgeous armoire!

I also love these glass float accessories...

Next day, I took my daughter and her friend to a nearby spot great for taking pictures.

A forest of wood pilings!  I think it once held a pier for boats to come in.

Somersault anyone?

A couple of real good friends having fun!

How is the weather by you?  Is it as cold as New York?

I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend…

My contractor husband and I have recently started new project redoing a cabana at our local beach club.  My husband will be completely renovating the cabana and I along with the client will be decorating with an eclectic, beachy vibe.

It had old panelings on the walls and drop ceilings with missing ceiling tiles and a post right in the middle of the room that you could walk into at any given moment!

Removed all the walls and ceilings down to the studs.

Check out some the funitue pieces chosen from one of my favorite stores in NYC, Nadeau…

Inspirations...

We will be adding rattan furniture, mixed with blue and white nauticle strip cushions for the seating area.  We will be installing white kitchen cabinets in the kitchenette with a farm house table for dining.

I can't wait to be putting all the pieces together and to accessorize the space.

We only have a few weeks before we have to be completed, so I will show you the progress as we go.

Have a great day!

Creative planter ideas

Spring is finally here (I think), somedays are questionable!  As soon as I feel the warm weather, I get the urge to plant.  Up until the past week it has been so cold, who wants to be outside planting? Not me!  So I've been scouring the internet for some creative ideas for some planters and here is what I have come up with…

How cute are these rain boot planters?

Talk about wacky!

Aren't they creative?  I guess you can turn just about anything into a planter!

 Have a wonderful weekend!

Felt flower headband

My daughter has been asking me to make her a headband for so long, I finally got a chance to make one.  In my defense,  I lost all my supplies during Hurricane Sandy, so I've been a bit bummed out about getting crafty.  However, I will carry on and be crafty again!

Here is a dahlia felt flower headband I made for my daughter.

This was a no sew project and easy enough to do it no time.  I cut ten 1-1/2" petals and nine  1" petals and a round piece for the base of the flower.

I rolled and glued the bottom end to form the petal.
Then place 1-1/2" petals for the outer layer of the flower.

Then placed the 1" petals in between the larger petals.  I accented the middle with different size pearls and glued the flower onto a headband.

I think it came out so pretty! What do you think?

Have a great day!

Ocean's treasures

This has been such a long winter that I still haven't been able to shake off the chill.  Maybe because it is still soooo cold out!  My daughter and I have been anxiously waiting to take walks on the beach in search of washed up seaglass and shells.  This is one of our favorite pastimes.  During our Easter vacation it warmed up just enough to take a nice walk along the beach.  It was wonderful, the ocean seemed so calm and peaceful.  Besides being a beautiful day, we were amazed at the amount of seaglass we found within an hour.  We also collected   all kinds of seashells like jingle shells, razor shells, large clam shell and more.

Here are the beautiful seaglass that we found that has been tumbling with the ocean waves to create these gorgeous frosted glass.

My favorite finds of the day!

Abundance of shells to be had, I can make a shell mirror, wreath or frames...

Have a great day!
