After Hurricane Sandy repair- Phase 1

As most of you know when Hurricane Sandy hit New York, New Jersey 5 months ago, it turned our lives upside down, inside out.  Our homes were uprooted, smashed and drowned to put in mild terms.  Since that fateful day, people have been trying tirelessly to repair the damages their homes have sustained.  There is a somber feeling in our beautiful beach community,  I am hoping that coming of Spring will bring some good spirits.  My family and I are still out of our house and eagerly waiting to return.  Unfortunately, it is going to be a long time before we go back home, there was structural damage which caused a domino effect in repairs.  Nevertheless, at the end of the day, we'll have a very strong house.

We are at phase 1 of the renovation… This entailed repairing all the structural damages inside and out.

It is all very surreal to be looking out of your house without a wall separating you from the inside and the outside!

I hope you stay tuned for the upcoming phases of my renovations!

Have a great weekend!

Beautiful kitchen renovation

Just let me start of by saying, I am a slacker!  My posts have beeen so far and few in between, I feel as though I just don't have the time and the topics to post about.  Does this happen to anyone else? Well, I have a few projects lined up, so hope to complete them soon and show you the results.  In the meanwhile, last year my friend move into my neck of the woods… She bought a house that was the perfect size and locations for her and her family, but needed a complete renovation.  My husband, the contractor did the renovation and my sister designed the kitchen, it turned out to be a family affair.  The renovation is complete now, a the house looks amazing!

Here is the kitchen before with dark and dingy cabinets, 70's linoleum flooring.

Took out all the old from floor to ceiling and reconfigured the space to make it larger and more functional.

Created access to a future deck outside of the kitchen.  Radiant flooring were installed underneath beautiful gray tiles to keep the toes nice and toasty in the cold days.

Cabinets, granite, backsplash and appliances installed, almost there!  Every inch of space was used to create plenty of  cabintetry.

Here it is now, bright, beautiful and updated!

I love the punch of turquoise color on the walls!

Can you believe this is that old, dark and dingy kitchen?  I think it turned out stunning!
